Our workshop in Norwich opened in October 2013. Starting in February 2014 a lot of its funding comes from the Big Lottery after our charity’s successful bid for a 5 year Work Oppportunities project. The aim of this project is to give young people with Asperger syndrome the opportunity to get experience in the work environment. During their time spent in the workshop they will mainly repair and refurbish donated electrical goods. They will get introduced and learn mainly about PAT testing (i.e. electrical appliance safety testing), laptop disassembly & re-assembly and fault finding and audio video equipment fault finding. Every effort is being made to match the tasks with the clients' interests but at the same time they have to be flexible and be ready to carry out tasks depending on the donations received.
There is also the opportunity to obtain a nationally recognised P.A.T. testing qualification for those who are interested. If you would like to know more about this or know someone who would be interested please contact firstname.lastname@example.org (tel. no. 07780565615).
