SUPPORT PROJECT
Our main aims
For children & young people with Asperger syndrome aged between
4 to 16 years to:
- Have access to and receive a relevant and improved quality of
inclusive statutory education
- Have improved motivation, behaviour and attainment in schools
- Improve attendance and receive their full educational entitlement
- Attend the school of their parents' / carers' choice within
their local community and receive an appropriately resourced,
accessible and inclusive education.
How we work to achieve our main aims
We seek to achieve this through:
- Giving children, young people and their parents/carers more
say in how, when, where and what is learnt and be listened to.
- Giving school staff opportunities to say what they need to be
able to meet the needs of these pupils and be listened to.
- Increasing awareness and understanding of the needs of pupils
with Asperger syndrome, including their emotional, social and
moral development, thus promoting inclusion within a mainstream
school.
- Raising and discussing issues with relevant education professionals.
- Influencing policies and procedures.
